QUIET LUXURY SKINCARE BRANDS TO HAVE ON YOUR RADAR
The lesser-known beauty brands for glowing skin
Despite the MANY binge-worthy new series gracing our TV’s in time for hibernation season, I found myself re-watching Succession for the second time. I found the plush houses and luxury yacht trips a welcome distraction for the storm raging outside. But I found myself completely enthralled by the beauty products littered in the background of my favourite scenes.
The infamous Roy family are arguably the epitome of quiet luxury and their bathroom cabinets couldn’t be more on-brand and I even spotted many of my own favourite formulas in the mix. As a self-confessed skincare addict (an occupational hazard), I’m very picky about what I put on my face. Luxury or not, it has to work, especially if it carries a high price point. So, moving on from the luxury fragrances post, I thought I’d share some quiet luxury brands that may have escaped your attention and a few key products that I’ve tried and know to be worth the price tag.
AESOP
Although originating in Melbourne, Aesop’s cool apothecary aesthetic and minimal packaging lend itself perfectly to a Parisian beauty house. By sourcing plant-based and laboratory-made ingredients, the products fit seamlessly into everyday life without fuss or confusion.

ALLIES OF SKIN
A lesser-known skincare brand, Allies of Skin is more for those who are a little more serious about their skincare. Expensive, yes, but very very targeted in the results. I turn to this brand when I need a skin re-set or, more recently, as I get older and am paying more attention to specific firming and resurfacing ingredients. If you want to see quick results, this brand is a must.

AUGUSTINUS BADAR
This German brand has been getting some seriously good press lately, helped by the (rather clunky) product placement in Emily in Paris this year. Highly scientific whilst maintaining a luxury feel rather than clinical, it has built up a very loyal customer base over the years which is testament to who effective its formulas are. The Cream is its hero product and I admit, it is a beautifully nourishing moisturiser if, like me, you have dry or dehydrated skin and the lip balm is the best I’ve ever tried.

TATCHA
Hailed from Japan, this luxury skincare brand has been a social media sensation and has been called out as a facilitator in the glass skin trend thanks to its The Rice Wash cleanser and Dewy Skin Cream. Using Japanese botanicals, it’s gentle yet delivers serious results in a short amount of time.

CLÉ DE PEAU
Sitting under the Shiseido umbrella, Clé De Peau focuses on advanced skin cell science and is the epitome of luxury. Offering both skincare and make-up (the foundation is amazing!) While very expensive, its skincare is potent and lasts a good 2-3 months (based on the incredible Firming serum I used).

AMAN
I was first introduced to Aman 7 years ago when I stayed in the Amanzoe hotel in Greece and it was the launch of the luxury hotel group’s skincare brand. I was blown away, not only by its beautiful packaging (it’s pretty heavy too!) but also how surprisingly effective the formulas were. This is no ordinary hotel amenity by any means and has now got pride of place within Harrods beauty hall. It may not be overly scientific in its promise but it’s a lovely everyday skincare brand.

BARBARA STURM
Loved by celebrities and beauty editors alike, Dr Barbara Sturm’s iconic skincare brand was born out of the facialists’ iconic clinical treatments and its gone from strength to strength since. Sturm specialised in anti-inflammatory conditions in the body which has expanded into skincare, using her scientific findings to create a cult product range. From anti-pollution formulas to calming aloe vera gel, it’s no wonder her customers keep coming back.

SISLEY PARIS
I’ve been a long-term customer of Sisley Paris and my skin absolutely adores the products. In short, their products work. They don’t stop working after a certain amount of time and they last a couple of months at a time. I started by using their masks which left my skin clear and glowing, before moving on to their cleansers and moisturisers. But where they really come into their own is their anti-ageing range. I’ve chosen my favourites which I use daily, below.
