There’s something about summer trends that can feel… loud. All that crochet, crochet, and did I mention more crochet? But every so often, a handful of trends come along that feel — dare I say it — wearable. The kind that whisper rather than shout. That feel less “flash-in-the-feed” and more like that cool woman at the farmer’s market who smells faintly of jasmine and never seems to break a sweat.
This summer, I’ve rounded up the trends I think are genuinely worth slipping into. They’re romantic but grown-up, directional but wearable, and — crucially — won’t make you feel like you’ve been styled by the algorithm. Here’s what’s trending (quietly).
1. Lace
Forget the lingerie-as-outerwear cliché — this season’s lace is far more refined. Think intricate panelling on cotton sundresses, broderie anglaise inserts, or lace-trimmed hems on city shorts. It’s everywhere from Khaite and Nensi Dojaka, to Simone Rocha, who paired lace skirts with oversized tailoring to great effect.
HOW TO WEAR: Pair a lace-trim skirt with a classic white tee, or layer a sheer lace blouse under a blazer for a more structured contrast. Think modern heirloom, not bridal boutique.
